North Rome and the surrounding area: what to do near the B&B

Rome is not only monuments and crowds: just minutes from our B&B, another city opens up, made of parks, villages and archaeological sites immersed in nature. The northern part of the capital is perfect for those seeking relaxation, outdoor walks and family-friendly activities, away from the traffic but a stone's throw from the great classics of the centre. Here are the places we recommend you discover during your stay.

Veio Park and Isola Farnese

Veio Park is a vast protected natural area that preserves one of the most important Etruscan sites in Lazio. Among woods, streams and gentle hills hides the charming Isola Farnese, a small village that seems frozen in time, with its castle and silent narrow lanes. Nearby you'll also find the famous Mola waterfall, an ideal destination for a refreshing walk. It's a perfect place for those who love walking, photographing nature and breathing in an atmosphere far from the city bustle.

La Storta and Olgiata

A short distance from the B&B lie the neighbourhoods of La Storta and Olgiata, along the historic Via Cassia. La Storta is a point of reference for everyday services and offers convenient connections to the centre thanks to its railway station. Olgiata is known for its green spaces and for the large residential complex set within parkland: a quiet area, ideal for an evening stroll or for those travelling with children who are looking for a more relaxed pace.

Insugherata Park

Among the area's loveliest surprises is Insugherata Park, one of the most extensive natural areas in Rome. It is a long green valley that crosses the north-western quadrant of the city, with paths winding among oak trees, meadows and small streams. It's the perfect place for a walk, a run or simply to enjoy a little peace in contact with nature, just minutes from our B&B.

La Giustiniana and the surroundings

The Giustiniana area is also worth a stop: well served and quiet, it makes a convenient base for those moving along the Via Cassia who wish to explore the northern side of the city. From here it's easy to reach both the natural areas and the connections towards the historic centre, combining relaxation and practicality.

Flavours and traditions of the area

The northern part of Rome and the villages along the Via Cassia preserve a pleasant food and wine tradition. Among family-run trattorias, farm restaurants and small bakeries, it's easy to savour the local dishes of the area: from homemade pasta to garden produce, all the way to the cheeses and wines of the Castelli and the Roman countryside. It's an experience that pairs perfectly with days spent in the open air and that lets you discover a more authentic, genuine side of the capital, far from the more touristy circuits of the centre.

When to visit the surroundings

The parks and villages of North Rome lend themselves to being visited in every season. In spring and autumn the climate is ideal for walks and nature's colours are at their best; in summer the greenery and the shade of the woods offer cool relief during the hottest hours; even on fine winter days a walk along the paths brings peace and silence. Our advice is to set off in the morning, perhaps after breakfast, to enjoy the natural areas at a leisurely pace and return in the afternoon for a little relaxation in the garden.
