How to reach the centre of Rome from our B&B

One of the most frequent questions our guests ask is about getting around: how far is the centre? How do you get there? Is it more convenient to travel by car or by public transport? The good news is that B&B Beni Benius Roma, although located in a quiet, green area of North Rome, is well connected both by road and by public transport. In this guide you'll find all the options explained in a simple, reassuring way, so you can plan your day stress-free.

By car: free parking at the B&B

For those travelling by car, our great advantage is the free private parking within the property: you can leave your car safely for the entire duration of your stay, without worrying about paid parking spaces or permits. Our location makes it easy to reach the main roads leading towards the centre, such as the Via Cassia and the Grande Raccordo Anulare (Rome's ring road). Keep in mind that the historic heart of Rome is largely a Limited Traffic Zone (ZTL): our advice is to use the car to move around the surrounding area and places served by large car parks, leaving it instead at the B&B when you head into the historic centre, where it's best to continue by public transport.

By public transport

Rome has a network of buses and regional trains that connect the northern area to the centre. A very practical solution is to reach the relevant railway station and take a train on the FL3 regional line, which in a few minutes brings you towards central stations such as Roma Ostiense, San Pietro and Valle Aurelia, from where you can easily continue by metro. Alternatively, the urban bus lines allow you to connect to the metro terminals. We suggest downloading a local public transport app to check timetables and routes in real time and, if you expect to make several trips, considering a day ticket that allows unlimited rides on buses, the metro and urban trains.

From the airports: Fiumicino and Ciampino

Those arriving by plane can rely on two main hubs.

• Fiumicino Airport (Leonardo da Vinci): it is the closest to our side of the city and well connected. By car it can be reached via the Grande Raccordo Anulare in a reasonable time; alternatively you can use the trains or a private transfer service.
• Ciampino Airport: it is located in the south-eastern part of the city. It is connected to the centre by shuttles and buses; from there you can reach the B&B by car or by combining train and bus.

If you prefer maximum comfort, especially in case of an evening arrival or with lots of luggage, a private transfer or a taxi from the airport to the B&B is the most relaxing choice. We will be glad to suggest the best option based on your arrival time.

How long does it take to reach the centre

Travel times depend greatly on the time of day and the means you choose. During rush hour, city traffic can lengthen journeys, while in quieter periods getting around is decidedly quicker. As a general rule, by combining the regional train and the metro you can reach the main points of interest in the centre reliably, without having to think about parking. This is why many guests choose to leave the car at the B&B while visiting the city, and to use it instead to explore the surrounding area and the natural spaces of North Rome, where getting around by road is more convenient.

Getting around with children or luggage

Those travelling as a family or with bulky suitcases can organise themselves easily. For arrivals and departures, especially to and from the airports, a private transfer or a taxi is the most convenient, stress-free choice. During your stay, alternating public transport for the centre and the car for the surrounding area allows you to make the most of your time and energy.
